Izzet Guney
Senior Advisor - ICT
Over the past 25 years, Mr. Guney’s expertise in originating, structuring and managing both equity and debt investments was based on having a great reputation as a successful principal in the TMT sector.
Izzet started his career in 1986 at SBC (AT&T today) where he worked in international M&A and led the high-profile $1B CATV merger with Telewest in the UK, along with other international projects in countries across the globe.
After 10 years at SBC, Izzet came to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) in late 1997 in its TMT team and was appointed Director in early 2000. There, Izzet was involved in equity/equity-linked transactions involving Polkomtel (Poland), Cesky Mobile and Cesky Telecom (Czech Republic), Orange Slovakia (Slovakia), BTC (Bulgaria), MTS, Golden Telecom, National Amusements and Vimpelcom (Russia), and Unitel (Uzbekistan) and debt financings for K-Mobile and Kazakhtelecom (Kazakhstan), MTS (Russia), Vodafone (Albania) and Mobifon (Romania) amongst many others.
After EBRD, Izzet joined a PE platform in Dubai called Millennium where he raised $250M, invested in Bharti Infratel’s towers in India, a regional MVNO (Friendi) and US-based Ethernet solution provider (Turin Networks then Force10Networks which was recently acquired by Dell).
Izzet received an MBA with Honours from the Garvin School of International Management (Thunderbird) and a BS in Computer Science with Honours from the University of Texas system where he earned a Top Ten Award.
He is married and has four children.
